Fueled by its impressive SUV lineup, Nissan saw its global sales increase dramatically last year. Overall SUV and crossover sales increased by more than 12 percent in 2017 thanks to the brand new Nissan Kicks as well as strong performance from the Nissan Qashqai, Nissan Rogue, Nissan X-Trail (not offered in Canada) and the refreshed Nissan Armada.
More than 2 million Nissan SUVs sold in 2017
There were roughly 230 000 more vehicles sold last year by Nissan compared to the previous year. A grand total of 1.38 million Nissan Rogue, X-Trail and Qashqai models were sold last year while more than 80,000 refreshed Nissan Armada full-size SUVs were sold in North America and the Middle East.
"The improvement in our global crossover and SUV sales made a significant contribution to Nissan's growth in 2017," said Daniele Schillaci, executive vice president for Nissan. "We increased crossover and SUV sales by nearly 230,000 units last year and expect our momentum to accelerate in 2018 as we expand Kick's availability to the U.S. and Canada”.
